Trimmers, edgers, blowers and saws run on mixed fuel through a diaphragm carburetor the size of a matchbox. When they sit with old gas, the diaphragm hardens first. Our kits replace the carb together with every rubber part around it.

Mowers, pressure washers and generators use float-bowl carburetors that varnish when the bowl dries out. Fresh carb, gaskets and plug, and a mower that has sat since October idles cleanly again.

Tuning the first pull

Our carbs leave the factory set, so most never need a turn. If yours does, these are the screws you will meet.

  • H

    High speed screw

    Sets the fuel share at full throttle. Clockwise leans it out, counter-clockwise makes it richer. Move a quarter turn at a time.

  • L

    Low speed screw

    Sets the mixture at idle and off-idle. A lean L screw makes the engine stumble when you squeeze the trigger.

  • T

    Idle speed screw

    Opens the throttle plate a little to set idle rpm. Turn it down if the trimmer head spins at idle.

  • A

    Air (TAS) screw

    On some carbs, trims the air intake at idle. Leave it where it is unless the idle hunts after a new carb.

The Huztl story

We started Huztl because small engines deserve better than a trip to the dump. Most trimmers, blowers and mowers that will not start are one tired carburetor, a cracked bulb or a split fuel line away from another ten years of work.

We work with carburetor factories that build to the original patterns, test every unit on a wet-flow bench, then pack it with the gaskets, bulbs and filters that failed alongside it. The goal is simple: you bolt it on, prime it and it fires on the first pull.

SRM-225 back from the dead

Trimmer sat two winters in the garage. Swapped the carb and all the lines from the kit, primed it six times and it fired on the second pull. Idle is rock steady.

Good kit, read the fit notes

My FS55 is a 2015 so I needed the newer carb with the Z cable end. Glad the listing explained it. Runs great, had to back the idle screw off a little.

Huztl builds replacement carburetors and tune-up kits for the outdoor power equipment most American households own: Echo, Stihl and Husqvarna string trimmers, handheld and backpack leaf blowers, Poulan Pro and Echo chainsaws, Mantis tillers, Honda-powered lawn mowers and pressure washers, Kohler riding mowers and Generac generators. Every carburetor follows the original Zama or Walbro pattern, so an Echo SRM-225 takes an RB-K93, a Stihl FS55 a C1Q-S97 or C1Q-S282, and a Husqvarna 125B a C1Q-W37.

A small engine that will not start, idles roughly or dies under load usually has one of three problems: stale fuel has varnished the carburetor, a fuel line or primer bulb has cracked, or the air filter is clogged. That is why most Huztl kits are more than a bare carburetor. You get the gaskets, primer bulbs, fuel filters, fuel lines, air filter and spark plug that wore out at the same pace, and one order covers the whole repair.
